Downtown Greer Resurfacing Project Holds Funds Available for Businesses

Greer Station is getting a face lift and work begins this summer!  In efforts to create a more inviting and aesthetically pleasing downtown. Up to $500,000 is expected to be spent on lighting, resurfacing downtown streets, parking lots and alleyways by the City of Greer.

The city is granting up to $10,000 for qualifying businesses in Greer Station. Greer is working in conjunction with the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority Façade Improvement Program who will grant up to $5,000 per qualifying businesses.

There is a minimum request of $1,000 per business and applications must be submitted by June 30th, 2018.  Funds are disbursed by reimbursement only and any cost incurred before grant approval will not be honored.  Grant funds for eligible projects will be awarded on a first come first serve basis. Projects must meet certain criteria such as restoring historic features, new outdoor lighting, masonry repair, and repair or installation of signage and awnings to name a few. Improvements must also adhere to the city’s design standards.

If approved, a business with $10,000 of eligible improvement work can receive $5,000 from the Greenville County Redevelopment Authority Façade Improvement Program and $5,000 from the City of Greer, making improvements at no out-of-pocket cost to the business owner. An additional $5,000 from the City of Greer can be awarded to qualifying projects exceeding $10,000.
